Right, should get the car back on Monday, with new airbox and catch tank. Hopefully Phil R will be able to map it for me sometime between Christmas and new year, then it's back onto Clive's rollers. Previous RR (on same rollers I'll be using this time) was 355 at the fly and 334 torques. Closest guess at the new figure (bhp at the fly) gets a £5 postal order smile

Chilli

PS, Daz, I'll post piccies of the new airbox and catch tank soon as I get the car back smile

Romoving oily vapour from the inlet charge is a good thing as it can reduce the octane rating of the fuel.

339.5BHP laugh Your out your own club rofl

Don`t understand why it`s being mapped on the road then taken on the rollers to find out the power ..

Would it be better to tune the top end on the rollers ..

Spot on that man. Stale oily air from breather reduces the octane level of the air/fuel charge, especially with the vacuum this baby has in the plenumn sucking it all out of the rocker cover.

Full report to come from me or the Richard

I recon 500hp and 450 torques. Only kidding.

Well as long as the mapper can tune for the extra air going in now, i would like to see 370hp and 340ft/lb

Daz, It doesn't get sucked out of the plenum. On a standard set up (and on most motors that I'm familiar with) there's a breather on the rocker cover(s) (sometimes on the side of the block) that stops the engine building up internal pressure by venting from the crankcase/rocker area back into the induction system. This internal pressure if allowed to build up would start causing nasty oil leaks where you don't want them. If however the engine is a 'heavy breather' this oil mist/vapour/globules that emanates from the crankcase/rocker cover etc will go back into the engine on the induction side and have a detrimental effect on fuelling. In other words, instead of a fuel/air mixture going into the combustion chamber you'll get an air/fuel/engine oil mixture going in. Which isn't ideal smile The idea of the catch tank is to collect this oil that gets 'blown' out of the engine rather than put it back into the engine via the induction system.

Thats my understanding of it anyway, hope it's clear (even if it's wrong wink )
