So, I'm currently driving a hire car, and discovered last night it's ability to open all of the windows. I presume this is because I've sat on the keys and his has triggered some voodoo magic.

Anyway, as this left all windows open overnight in the rain, it's fair to say the inside is more than just a bit damp. The cloth seats squelch when pressed, and there is water pooled in all sorts of places.

So do any of the people of PH have any ideas how best to dry it out? Aside from the fact I want to drive it without getting a soaking wet arse, I'm conscious it'll start to stink before long!

Wet vac to suck out the water, then heaters on for a few hours along with some kitty litter in a box to soak up any remaining moisture.

Couple of pots of rice, and a dehumidifyer. Or heaters, it works! Remember to leave the windows open a tad for fresh air!

If you can get a cable to it put a fan heater in the car set on low and open the windows just a crack.

Wet vac out what you can, then Leave it running somewhere safe with the air con on.

What car is it? VAG group cars have ahabit of doing this if the convenience unit ECU is faulty or damaged. It may not be your fault, could be a fault with the car

Thanks all. I'll gather up all the cat litter / rice / heaters I can find and see what happens.

Leaving the engine running for the air con will be tricky as I've only really got the drive to do it on, and only the one key so can't lock it. I could just block it in with the other cars I guess..

Wouldn't do it to my own car but a rental I'd happily leave running for hours with the A/C on full heat and the windows cracked open a bit, grab one of those big value bags of rice from Tesco and a bunch of cheap tights and hang a load of them filled with the rice around the car...

That's interesting - it's a Golf. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on and see what happens. I've left the keys well out the way, so if it happens again I'll know it's the car. This one I think I'll just have to take on the chin and get it dried.
