Brief is pretty simple, just want something for my office at home. Main thing is a radio, as getting sick of streaming from various laptops/tablets etc. Also the ability to play Cds, mp3s and (maybe) internet radio/apple connectivity. i used to be into hifi many years ago, so am a little out of touch with who the key players are now. Not also what to do in terms of speakers ? Use my old mission 760is or get a set with the system ? Do I get a sub etc?

Budget would be a few hundred I think....

Saw this deal earlier:

At a little stronger money:

I have the previous model Denon and it is excellent. You'll need a decent set of speakers - mine is currently hooked up to a Bose Acoustimass passive system which is a bit pants, but compact and child proof for now.

If you are happy to spend a few hundred, I'd seriously consider a Sonos Play 3 or 5, and a NAS drive. Be warned though, Sonos is habit forming!

If I may join in with this, is there's a decent micro/mini system that would sit in a unit with a TV and make a flat screen sound good....would save me buying a sound bar.

Another vote here for mimiman's suggestion of the Denon DM39, and with this suggested system partnered with Dali Zensors, a superb proper hi-fi system for the money.

I've got Sonos in the house but for the same price as a Play:5 this Denon/Dali system just blows that into the weeds in terms of sound quality, and yes would be perfect for improving the sound for a TV.

That's a great price too, considering the speakers are £180 on their own.

I really like the look of that Denon with the speakers included. I'd sort of been thinking of that system so it's nice to see I wasn't too far off...

Does that system need a Sub at all ? I noticed (I think) there was a sub output on the back of the denon ?

I'm now starting to wonder if I should be looking at more of a complete system that provides streaming to different rooms, surround sound on the TV etc.

Jesus - what started off with "I wouldn't mind a radio for the office" is slowly turning into very expensive project!

So... what do you guys have out there in terms of complete solutions ? Really just keen to avoid the problem of making a decision on something for my office and then in a few months time wishing I'd took a different route!

Can add a sub if you want but not really required with the sensors.

There's always something bigger and better wink

I have Sonos throughout the house - 6 zones now, 4 zp90's, a zp120 and a Play:5 - The beauty of the Sonos is the interface - which is best of breed and the fact that by using the zp90 zoneplayers you can add multi-room streaming to any existing hi-fi system and not be limited in the sound quality as you can add out-board DAC's, amps and speakers of whatever quality you want.

However if you just want self-contained units then I think there are much better sounding systems out there, such as B&W's new Airplay system using A5s, A7's and Zeppelins - http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Wireless-Music-Syste... I think Sonos's Play:5 is very average sounding and it's been relegated to the spare bedroom now and never really gets used - one note base, muddy mids, and recessed treble!

However, if you're going to use Sonos to stream to good quality kit then it's definitely the way to go imo. You could always add a ZP90 to the Denon/Dali system at Richers when you wanted to go multi-room.

I bought this package this morning. It is very impressive!
