Hi all, been thinking recently about changing the scoob for something more refined and i cant get the xj6 outta my headwobbleThink its probaly due to the old fella having an xj40 in the early 90's and remembering how nice it was compared to the merc 280e he had previous. What do u think £2000 whould get me,would ideally i'd like a late xj40 4.0s but not sure if my budget will get me a tidy example? Also what can i expect on the mpg front,i was thinking similar or better for the jag?My scoobs a std uk turbo wagon 2000yr.Cheers

I'd think £2,000 would be a very good budget for an XJ40 or X300 as all the dross is sub £1,000.

My Uncle has a 3.2 XJ40 and it'd do high 20's at a sensible motorway cruise. 20mpg around town.

yes

I've promised myself something similar this year, there are a couple of lovely looking, low mileage XJ40s in the PH classifieds for around £1300 at the moment.

Expect mpg to be fairly similar to your Scoob, around 20ish I think.

I`m the same with the Jag.
I`ve never owned one and I have a real hankering for one.

It`s an itch I`ll scratch one day!
