If anything?

MX to me usually means 'motor cross' or 'moto x'

And the '5'

Five seats, no. Five doors, no. Five cylinders, no.

RX' also standards for Rotary eXperimental.

Can't remember what the CX was for - Crossover eXperimental maybe?

There was also an MX-3 and MX-6. Both of these had 6-cylinder engines and in the case of the MX-3 it was a nice little 1.8 V6.

When the project was conceived in the early 80s they considered things like front wheel drive, or tin top vehicles. Thank god they went with idea number 5!
