Odd starting problem - any ideas please!

I've just come back from a week away but when I got in the Chim to start her up nothing happened!

Charge in the battery seemed OK (a new battery of less than a month - yep, sorry Schnozz, after all that hard work the battery failed after 2 months and I had to get it replaced!), all electrics fine and strong, fuel pump kicked in well but absolutely *no* response to turn of the key.
The usual fruitless actions ensued of repeating the same thing; fuel pump primed every time, all electrics were still strong ... started from scratch ... same again ... then suddenly out of the blue after the 6th or 7th full restart from scratch/fuel pump prime attempt it started. And it started first time, no problem, no indication of a problem.

Any ideas of what might be showing its age? Obviously not the 'too hot fuel pump' problem since it was stone cold. Could a small leak or similar mean it needs multiple fuel pump primes? Sorry if this sounds silly but I'm totally stumped am am afraid it will happen again *without* the miracle recovery!

I would still try the "hot start" mod, it might be that as it is "a voltage problem", easy to do. Some have the "hot start" only with lights on, or fans running etc. I have details of how to do it.
