Heater removal

hello all..

well, i'm preparing myself for the task of removing the heater in my 93 HC as the fan has seized and after consulting the bible am reliably informed its a swine of a job

Does anybody have any advice? preferably a step by step guide would be good but failing that is there anything I should be wary of before I get my hammer out?!

Hi,

Did you manage to sort the heater. Have mine to do over the winter, looks like it may have a leak not a big one yet but it won't get any better until it's sorted.

Heater blower & matrix are separate units, which I think you may be confusing. If you think your heater is leaking fluid, make sure its not where the wiper motor bolts go through the wing, or the pipes to the heater matrix in the footwell.

Yes & no, enter the car thru side of transmission tunnel (under stereo ish) normally covered by the extra carpet trim, and run round top / back of footwell to matrix. If you look behind the passenger footwell airvent you will see them. The pipes just connect the top of the engine to the heater matrix (with a H section - the bypass - somewhere). Whilst you are there you can see the cables for the heater control connecting to the matrix as well.
