Well, today I waved goodbye to my fantastic GTR. 
Still, I'm looking forward to the next one already
Just goes to show, build an Ultima to the right spec. (factory), to a high standard and stick it for sale here and you won't be selling for long!

Ah - Stig - thought it was yours....
Bumped into the new owner of MYxx GTR today on the M6 toll services. He was panicing a bit as he couldn't really find the brake pedal, and was having fun driving it head onto the setting sun. Not a PH'er but I told him to wander onto here...
Bet you miss her already - sounded lovely as it drove past on its merry way. Given the advert - you thinking of wandering over M12 way?

Looks like I got my ride just in time then!
From a prospective builders/owners point of view, did you lose much money on it? Obviously you spent many hours building it but in terms of cash forked out for parts would you say you lost a packet, broke even or made a profit (yeah right!).
The only reason I'm asking is to help me decide on whether to build or buy ready-built. Getting something below cost and then modifying to suit may be a better bet especially when I'm on the other side of the world!

Hi Joust and Stigs. Well I got it home but am definitely worried by being unable to find the brake pedal - Ted's guys changed it a bit so may have to buy a new pair of shoes - maybe that would help. Also removed the air separator on my front drive but towards the end got confident and it really goes like a rocket. Will get the brake pedal problem solved.
Didn't mean the above to sound negative and I think the car looks, sounds and drives beautifully and I look forward to scaring myself witless over the next few weeks ....

Glad to hear you got back ok Bob!
I did wonder when I saw your shoes, a narrow pair definitely makes the pedals easier to get on with, but they're positioned quite close to aid heel and toe (for which they are excellent!).
The Ultima driving experience does take some getting used to as it's far more like a race car really, that's one of the reasons I loved it so much!
Right, now stop saying it's so great as I'm getting depressed!!

No, car was in the process of being sold at the time. The new owner (wavering) had it fully inspected by the factory so they were looking after it for me - typical with all this great weather!
They asked if I minded it being shown at Donny, which I didn't.
I still can't get my head around it being gone?!?!?
Have been trying various replacements since it's been for sale, and can confidently say, that everything else feels slow, dull and boring!

What are you going to do next though Stig? Clive's got his warp factor 9 mini and Andy his twin turbo V12 and CAbby's got a track car... we need to know. A race prepped slick shod Can-Am perhaps?

Congrats on your sale! It must be hard to read about another driving your pride and joy. I have noticed your silence on the "what's next" topic though. You don't strike me as the type who'd let the better half dictate some kind of econo-mobile so me thinks you've got something up your sleeve

Hi All, Am feeling very guilty about depriving Stig of such a fabulous car - hope you can come up with something else to take away the pain. The brake pedal problem is something I have only had once before when the salesman said as we climbed into the car ( Countach ) "the brake pedal is a bit hard to find" I thought I knew where it was but then overtook a line of traffic and suddenly needed the brake pedal ... and could not find it. Fortunately the guy coming the other way knew where his pedal was. The next Countach I drove was fine so why they vary I do not know. When I drove Ted's Ultima I had no problem at all. It is not a shoe problem - I know that because I only have one pair of shoes. I think it will be OK if I raise the pedal a bit.
As for Jets you can buy a tenth share in a Folland Gnat for about 15K and that is really quick and scary - "Don't pull any of these yellow handles unless you really have to" I have only ever watched this process and chickened out of actually going up in one ...
