10k Car

I want to spend 10k (uk) on a car for myself.
It's gotta carry a few people when needed, so needs the space, nice looks and great performance.
But ideally not too expensive to run.
I'm a company manager so have to consider this if/when I don't have the company car.
Any suggestions?
Looking at BMW, Audi or Mercedes.

This is PH. Great performance for the average PHer will be vastly different to the average person on the road, who probably believes their 2.0 diesel is the last word in quick.
Give us an example of how quick you want it to be.

The good news is I've been touring the 3-3.5 litres.
