Lesson certainly learned.
What a hideous place. I got invited to the one in Croydon not long after it opened to be greeted by a place that looks like a nightclub and a closely monitored time limit at the table. The food is very average which is all that can be expected from such a huge buffet place but what disturbed me more that most was people walking around with really odd combinations of food on their plate 
Not somewhere I would go again. Quality of food (and taste) is much more important to me than quantity.

Swindon experience was nothing like that. All very well presented; freshly cooked steak & mushroom if requested (no extra charge); friendly, unimposing staff; no time limit mentioned; fantastic selection to choose from.
You select the food you want to eat and pop it on your plate. Once you're done with that plate and are ready to move to something different, you just grab another plate. You don't have to mix foods or food types.

Yeah i know you take a clean plate each time. My comment is more about people with plates of curry with a bit of chinese on the side and a few roast potatoes and then a couple of fish fingers Swindon experience was nothing like that. These places are what you make them. I guess the time limit is probably a weekend thing. Never going to get top nosh from such a pile it high and varied and sell it cheap place though are you?
I went to the one in Swindon for the first time in the summer and it was excellent for the money.
Sushi prepared as you wanted it (and even let me have a bowl of pickled ginger to nibble at) and a brilliant tepenyaki (sp) bar with decent ish steak and king prawns.
All for a tenner.
It's not fine dining but really not expected at those prices!

I can't speak for all other cosmos but I have been to the Romford one quite afew times.
Awful place.
It's fine to go there if you're the type of essex person who thinks a curry or chinese is exotic (normal days you see chips with beans, and refer to your dinner as 'tea'). But for anyone else who's got a decent sense of taste about them its not great. The food is not as good quality as your local chinese takeaway so you don't really get the feel that you're getting value out of it. Sure the quanitity is huge, but their chow meins, special fried rice, mostly crap. 50% of their food isn't chinese but instead things like oven chips, chicken nuggets, smiley faces etc... They have teppanyaki, but the chef is hardly there as nobody ever takes advantage of it.
It's only ever worth going there if you're drunk, which is what most people seem to do anyway. For any londoners Water Margin at the o2 is a much better place.

I went to the reading oe last night. It's great (for what it is and the money)
Had fresh sliced sashimi, freshly cooked scallops and steak. All made to order!
And yes it is a bit odd mixing the foods, i had pizza, sushi, sticky beef, roast gammon, nachos and various curries on the same plate at one point.
