I should have measured first, because I made up my mind that they should be 6" speakers for the S1, but how wrong I was. I got a nice pair of Rockford Fosgates to replace the Pyle speakers that live up to their name, only to discover that the Pyles are 5.25", and even then the grilles have been modified to fit.

I'm not looking for hi-fi sound because I love the engine noise, but it would b nice to listen to something every now and then. Is there a decent speaker out there with a grill small enough to fit in the tiny space?

What are you guys using? Search is down...

Thanks!
David

I fitted some Kenwood KFC 1360S speakers many years ago. They are quite shallow as well so clear the window mechanism.

In the US there is one set on eBay at the moment - item 271125273453 .

I guess S1 door cards with wind up windows must be quite different to later cars coz these measure over 7" diameter?

Yes, there isn't much room on the early cars due to the arm rest/door pull being further forward or further down. I took a swing at the Kenwoods on eBay, but didn't meet the reserve. The Blaupunkts look classy, with a somewhat period look to them. Like I said, I'm not after the performance of Focal components, I just want to put right what is a bit of an eyesore, and maybe listen to a traffic report every now and then, so thanks for the tips and I will go shopping in the real world to see if I can snap up either the Kenwoods or Blaupunkts.
