Road bike insurance

Realised I really need to insure my road bike.

It is quite expensive and I can't afford to have to pay to replace it from my own pocket if I have an accident on the road and it get's smashed.

Any tips on where to go?

Ring up your home insurance first, you may be able to add it to that!!

I had it on my home insurance .... but now when I read the small print it says it is not covered if you are undertaking any sporting activity on it.

So whilst it is covered in my home and I have paid extra for it to be covered locked up outside (mind you I never leave my bike locked up outside) it is not covered when I am actually on it cycling.

So if I have an accident it will not be covered.

I used to have M&S home insurance and that was pretty comprehensive, but now they are trying to charge me an extra £450 to have my bike added to my home contents insurance!

There must be a cheaper alternative?

Having recently claimed on my Barclays house insurance I can highly recommend them as went very smoothly, didn't cost much extra to include bikes - max £2.5k per bike though.

My bike is worth over £2.5k.
