Hi,

Does anyone use waterless coolant in an X308 XJR? I like the thought of long life coolant, but I know the Jag manuals are pretty specific when it comes to using Jag orange 50/50 coolant/water.. Any thoughts? Thanks

Coolant has 2 functions:
1) Effective heat transfer at all operating temperatures.
2) Stopping the system from corroding.

To achieve (2) corrosion inhibitors are added, the chemical formulation of which is matched to the engine metals, plastics & fluxes used.

Unless you know that the coolant you propose to use is going to be compatible then I would not recommend using it.

The other thing is that when 2 coolants of different chemistries are mixed you often get inhibitor fight, at which point they stop protecting the engine from corrosion. Not good.

Thanks for that Gavin - I was thinking of having the full system flushed/replaced but did not consider that the formula would be so specific - I think I'll stick with Jag spec!
