I've just had a surreal experience on the Surrey section of the M25. I was travelling a bit quickly as traffic was light when a silver 1 series BMW estate with blacked out rear windows pulled out behind me, raced up and flashed me over. He pulled along side and the passenger glared at me. Then he drove on past and a red sign flashing "70 Limit" came on in his rear window. No blue lights and I don't think the occupants were in uniform. Any one know what they are or had a similar experience. I'm wondering if they're some kind of motorway neighbourhood watch crew!!!

There was an unmarked silver 3 series Touring stopped on the hard shoulder around jnct 14 on Christmas day evening. A single officer was behind the barrier on his phone. Looked to have broken down. Defo unmarked BiB from the Christmas tree lights going at the back.

Ok, for those small minded amongst you the car looked like a 1 series 2 door hatchback. But my question stands, it did happen and all I wanted to know is weather anyone has seen anything similar? And if so - any ideas regarding if its genuine police or who it might be?

Go down to the Thames Valley & Surrey section, and say thank you to our friendly boys in blue, in the designated thread?

Yep, seen and been warned by them on a number of occasions over the years.

What you saw was a standard unmarked plod car who clocked the fact you were speeding but either decided not to pull you or couldn't pull you for some reason so used their matrix screen to remind you of the speed limit.

Would have thought that you would be able to recognise other BMW models seeing as you own one. How are the winter wheels and have you fixed the central locking fault yet?

I think you have been taking for a ride my friend.

you can get those LED signs from any gadget store for 30 quid and you can type whatever message you want on it. was tempted to get one of these for myself when i had a 2009 black vectra sri with upgraded exterior xp pack as it very much looked like an undercover car however i thought with my fking luck id end up trying to pull over an actual under cover cop car so i never bothered lol

Central locking fault fixed thanks. Had to change relays in GM5 unit - £40, very happy. Don't really know anything about 1 series BMW's.
