Hi there guys,
I recently brought my first car vaxuahall corsa b and then i crashed it 3 weeks later what happened was it was heavy traffic + heavy rain i bumped onto the back of the other car which was a lexus gs300. The lexus had noo damage not even a scratch however my car on the other hand was not drivable; headlight smashed, front grill, radiator was leaking and one fan blade was broken. I managed to drive the car to a local petrol station and opened the hood which was lodged in literally went in the locks were jammed. It took 4 of us to open the hood we managed to open it and i put a rock between altinaton and fan beacuse the fan was jammed i managed to drive the car back. OK time for the problem i was driving on a tracker insurance under my mums name and that other f***** has claimed whiplash even though my tracker claims i was driving under 5mph. I really want to drive a car again as ive loved every experince of owning a car, and yes i know its my fault however plz give me some advice

Lube up. And pray the insurers don't find out you were fronting.

So, it's your car and you're the main user, but it was insured in your mother's name ?

If so, this thread will not go well for you.

  1. That sort of damage to your car and "not even a scratch" to the Lexus does not compute - it simply doesn't happen.
  2. That sort of damage generally doesn't happen at "under 5mph" either
  3. If the insurance was in your mother's name but you are the main driver then that's called "fronting" or in other words "insurance fraud"
Basically you hit someone and it's your fault - at 17 there is no realistic way this ends without it costing you a metric fkton of money I'm afraid.

Putting the potential fronting to one side, it just seems like if you have 3rd party then pay for the repairs (to your car) from your own pocket and then get ready for (deserved) monster premiums next year. If fully comp then you have to wait for the claim money to come through and see whether they write it off or not. I don't see how having an accident would be a problem for this current insurance cycle unless you are on pay monthly and in the terms you signed at the beginning they can bump up the price.

You have an excess and whether someone wants to try to claim a gazillion quid in whiplash doesn't affect you. Insurance companies need to grow balls and stamp out this BS claim culture esp with tracker information.

If you are worried about something you have not told the insurance then prepare for legal proceedings etc.

In essence, get ready to pay lots of money.

Even if they don't find out about fronting, your insurance will go up massively because of a large claim. Your mums insurance will go up too.

If they find out about the fronting, they will void the insurance and try to claim moneys back from you. Your mum won't be able to find insurance too.

That being the case.. if your mother is demonstrably the main user of the car you'll be fine on the fronting aspect. It's still going to cost you a great deal of money though - at 17 with a fault claim on your history prices will be astronomical.

Don't drive too close to the car in front.

Don't get distracted by your mates in the car.

Make sure that you have good brakes.

Don't hit other cars.

Don't lie to an insurance company.

Find out how much a monthly bus ticket costs.

Optional - learn to spell.

Wait, if that is your first car, why does it say in your profile that you have previously owned two CTR's, and one Toyota Landcruiser?

There's not enough information there to say that he's fronting.

why would they not believe him. Everyone is accusing him of fronting

he might not be, surely if his mother drives the car the same amount if not more of the time than he does then how is it fronting

Although being 17 regardless of who was the main driver you will get buggered big time next year for insurance
