Moving of topics - Common Sense?

At the risk of sounding like a whiny little git, why would a thread asking for suggestions of things to see and do in the Midlands be moved from the Lounge to the Midlands forum?
It's like the kiss of death because you've automatically gone from anyone who might think "Oh I went visited there once and went to XYZ" to only people who have an enough interest in the Midlands to look in that forum even seeing the thread.
Not really sure how to go about asking that the mods just apply a little common sense rather than spotting a word in a thread title and thinking "I'll move that" - reading the thread would perhaps help to get the "tone" of the post
