Just having talk with my son about adding an external USB drive to his Xbox and using it to store installed games on (ones that he does have I might add!!!) - his original 60GB drive is full and we've just had to delete loads off it to install Halo 4.

He reckons that there's a possibility oh the machine being banned from Xbox Live due to the extra drive. But I thought this was only if the Xbox itself had been modded or chipped - which it hasn't.

My brother used to have his old xbox 360 using my old 1TB external HDD, however because it was modded he never went online so never had a chance to be banned, but it might be worth letting your son know that the xbox HDD, when taken apart is actually just a laptop HDD so if he uses google a bit, and can get the right answers, it will be an easy and cheap replacement as a laptop HDD 320gb is only £32!

ETA : Take a look here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1204909/can-i-use-3rd-p... , seems to have all the info you need and also a guide! However, please do enough research yourself as personally I am only relying on the little I have found online and I would hate for you to jump into it on my word.

If it all goes tits up then you can be assured I won't be seeking your address. biggrin

It's prety much like my old virgin box which suddenly one day found itself with a 1TB hard drive... whistle

Sorry mate, I didn't pursue it any further.

It's the lads machine and it's literally, and I hate to say this, like an extra limb to him.
So to feck it up for him (even if there's the slightest chance) wouldn't go down to well at all.

If it was purely mine, then yes I'd have done it by now.
