Over the last couple of days I had a clunking noise when I change gear and accelerate. Thought this might be a sign the diff is on the way out. However, it worse still, if I accelerate hard from standing and then change to second I getting what sounds like a spinning/whirling sound from underneath the car (sort of noise you'd get if you spun a metal rod on a spindle)?

Any ideas?

Sorry to tell you my diff sounded like that when it was on the way out.

Cheaper to have a recon job if it's required, but best have an expert look at it.

1KRWHP = 1000RWHP (rear wheel horse power)

There are a few firms that you send your whole diff out to, and they rip it apart and build one to fit using Nascar grade components...

But I was messing around on the price, quite expensive.... but you wont have to worry about it going again

Thanks for all the replies. Love to check the Diff oil but haven't got a clue how to and, isn't it almost impossible to get hold of the stuff recommended in the handbook?

hi
when you say clunking do you mean like a banging when you pull away , if so then its the top diff mount and is a nightmare to change I have had 3 done so far and dealers charge 8 hours labour, part cost nothing,
