OK, yesterday I went out with a 'proper' pressure gauge to measure tyre pressure. I had been using the normal air-line at a shell garage before.

Anyway, I had them all at the recommended 22 F, 24R or so I thought...

Actual measurement:
24F
27R

Anyway, once I had set them properly, I thought I would go for a quick blast.

OMG!! It made a great difference to ride, however... now I have what can only be described as torque steer.. too much throttle and the back-end is quickly trying to overtake the front, in 1st and 2nd.!!

This used to happen only in the wet.

I am not sure what the geometry set-up is, as the N/S rear looks to have +ve camber and the O/S rear looks -ve.

The fronts both definately have -ve. So I went to get a quote for a geometry set-up...

cheapest 120EURO (80quid), until they saw the car and then and um sorry we cannot touch that car we don't have any information and we don't have imperial sizes, this is Germany...??

I thought the suspension adjustments are all metric?

Anyway, can anyone tell me roughly what I should tell the garage I finally found to set the car up to?

It is running on Bilsteins, standard tyres.. (235 rears), I just need a guide to get it sitting properly as I have also noticed uneven wear...

Thanks for any input..

Steve

My 98, 500 used to sit down on one side at the back under heavy acceleration in 1st and 2nd and twitch quite alarmingly when lifting off to change gear. It that the symptom you have ? Turned out that I had a leaky left rear damper, fitting new dampers all round completely removed the symptom. As al you have done is change the tyre pressure I would look for something related to the stiffness of the car rather than the camber / castor.

Yes, this is the sympton I have, have checked all the shocks, and springs and found no problems.. They look quite new..

The previous owner said he'd had it set-up for track use only, hence the very bumpy ride and the need to concentrate on anything less than perfect road.
