I tried to charge my mobile the other day using the cigarette lighter, only to find that it didn't work There is power getting to the socket to illuminate it when the lights are on, but the socket itself seems to be totally dead. I've tried the charger in another car, so I know it's not that at fault. Does the cigarette lighter run from it's own fuse, or does it share a fuse with other devices (if it shares with other devices, I'd expect them to have packed up too). If it is the actual lighter socket that has packed up, does anyone know which car TVR 'borrowed' it from?

Thanks,

Dan.

It may or may not run from its own fuse depending on which one of the 11 different fuse relay layouts that I have so far discovered you have.

More likley to be a loose wire on the socket.

OK, I'll take a look at the socket. Is it easy to remove?

Yes ish. Some unscrew. Some are simply loose. Some require the door panel/arm to come off.

The ones I've seen are basically two concentric cylinders. They're both threaded so you can screw the inner cylinder into the outer one (if you see what I mean) and when they're scrwed together they trap the mounting panel between them. If you unscrew them, the inner part comes out forwards, leaving the outer part free to fall down behind the mounting panel. You need to have access to the back of the mounting panel to screw them back together again.

I only know my cig lighter as a useful 'IN' point to charge the battery! The thought of sucking power OUT of it is weird - full mobile, flat TVR!

Incidentally, my Griff doesn't have any ashtrays - presumably a factory 'no-cost' option? Or did they just forget?!

Indeed I opted to delete them on mine when I spec'd it - a few extra sq. cm. of leather being far more preferable to a container for used coffin nails! Rich...

Wot, full leather, you swanky bugger? £2,000 I believe - amazing considering the number of dead cows lying about last year! (or was it this year? Time drags so slowly under NuLab)
