Evening chaps and chapesses, I just thought I'd introduce myself.
I've been browsing the posts on here for about a year now but never signed up because I thought I was too young. Being 12 most of my friends are interested in playing the xBox but I like helping my Dad with his cars. Anyway, I probably won't post much but hey-ho.

Hi!
It's good to see a new member. Plus, you are only 12 and have better spelling and grammar than 90% of members!
You'll fit in well.
Fancy telling us a bit more on what motors you're into? Or what your dad has (assuming not every 12 YO has a Jag).

Thanks for the welcoming messages, guys.

My Dad is actually a member on here, but lurks in the shadows. We went to the Porsche Sunday Service in August (?) in his 2003 Audi RS6. I'm interested in anything really, but like Audis (Que fanboy comments
)and it's always nice to see a classic out and about. The fact that I know a bit about cars seems to have gotten around my friends, there's the occasional time when somebody asks about a certain car when arguing and the time when I nearly got my Dad to fix my first school teacher's car.
I can't wait to get my first car but no matter how many hints I drop, my Dad doesn't seem to notice that it would be nice to have something to restore and have as my first car.

I suppose I get a little bit of extra mechanical knowledge from my RC cars, and they need fixing quite often.

What sort of stuff do you have?
Quite a lot, most of the garage space is filled with our stuff. We (My Dad, my brother and myself) have a mix of petrol, nitro and electric.Starting with petrol we have a FG Monster truck that my Dad made completely aluminuim (One of the first in the world, but it weighs a ton) and an FG Marder that he sold. We stopped using the petrol cars because they're pretty loud (Especially the truck) and the club we used shutdown and moved miles away.
Then we have the nitros, which were fun but needed a lot of tuning if you wanted them to run correctly, he currently has a Hong Nor truggy with some fancy upgrades (Still here) and possibly a xRay truggy but I think he sold them after we moved to electric. We also have a Hyper 7 buggy and a HPI Savage that haven't been used in years.
We also have a lot of electric stuff, some off-road and some on-road. He has a Team Associated B44 electric buggy that can beat alot of the nitro stuff but seems to break quite a bit, the on-road cars take up the most space, time and money though. We currently have three Tamiya M0-5s all in medium wheel base spec that are used in our local club's Mini Stock class (My Dad and myself) and Novice (My brother). Then we have three (I think) xRay touring cars; a T2 009 for me and a T3 (I can't remember the year off the top of my head) for my Dad plus an extra T2 009 if we run out of spares on the night.
In our spares box there are enough parts to make a couple of M0-3s, an extra M0-5 and possibly a M-06 but I think we've built that up as a spare car. I also have a Tamiya TT-01 drift car for a bit of fun that was actually used by myself and my Dad as our first cars.
There might be a few more hidden in the depths of the garage but it's raining and the garage is locked.

Sorry for the long winded post.

Sounds like my garage at home that does!
Your profile says you're in Dorset. You wouldn't be racing the Minis at Bransgore would you?
Funny you say that! We went down there a couple of times but at the time we were still racing at Weymouth RC in Wool. We currently race at Dorset Model Car Racing Club in the old library in Hamworthy. Your profile says you're in Dorset. You wouldn't be racing the Minis at Bransgore would you?
Do you race there? If you do you might recognise John Benn, Lew Oehme or Stuart Parnell?
I went there for about 6 months, but stopped as I couldn't afford to go when they put up the prices. £6 a night now, and as I'm crap I only ever got one or two races.
I got back into off road and crawling/scale stuff, and keep the onroad to car parks and the occasional visit to the old Mardave track in Bursledon.
I really should start selling some of my old race stuff. It was a pretty good setup - I had the shiny blue M03 chassis, every single hopup they would allow...very quick for a silver can car. Shame I was so terrible at driving it
But yes, r/c mechanics does give you an insight into real world stuff. I'm pretty good with electrics as I've tinkering with Tamiyas since I was about 10. Keep it up.
