Cotic Soul - fork advice

I'm planning to build up a Cotic Soul and starting to decide on the components. I've read that 120mm travel is ideal and I am looking at the options.

Came across these which seem good for the price:

Bike will be used for general XC riding. Nothing too extreme.

Anything between 120 and 140mm will be fine, you can fit a shim to most forks to reduce the travel as you wish so you can expand your options a bit. I think the SIDs are lightweight for a Soul personally, they are awesome bikes and deserve to be ridden all day through anything. I think running SIDs limits the potential of the bike, like fitting 22" rims to a Range Rover...

I'd look for something with a 15mm thru axle too. SIDs are very light and with a 9mm Q/R, you will start to fel the front end flex when cornering on the fast descents. I'd consider the DT Swiss XMM 140s or the Marzocchi LR 44s (which I appreaciate are 9mm but have some good reviews)

I have Soul and wouldn't bother with SIDs - it's a tough trail bike rather than a wippety thing. I'd go for something like some RS Revelations.

I have a full suss for longer/bigger routes in the mountains. I was thinking of building up a Soul pretty light for more local riding hence looking at the lighter SID's. Should also note that I weight 65kg so can probably get away with less beefy forks.

Has anyone owned SID's?

Not the later Sids, but the earlier ones were patented as ' noodletechnology' as they were all pretty flexy. Later ones are better, but as said, I would opt for a slightly burlier pair of forks. I have some Reba's on my Scandal and are actually bloody good for someone who weighs nearer 100kgs, so for you would be ideal. A mate has a Cotic and has just fitted some fox air forks ( dont know which ones) with a maxle and he loves them and they suit the bike. He is 60 kg wet through.

Am running Fox Float 120's with 15mm QR on my Soul - they're apparently the perfect fork - less flex due to the 15mm QR, but still light.

Cy recommends a 120mm fork, saying that a 140mm raises the front end too much. Additionally a 140mm isn't warrantiable on the earlier skinny frames. The later tapered frames can take them, but the same thing still applies about it deadening the handling - something that others have agreed.
