Yes as if not it does not have the over boost facility and nearly all cars specced as such, so if it doesn't have it most will go elsewhere. However if its cheap enough!

..I think it's the chrono+ that has the overboost, as opposed to std chrono, which is the wart on the dash and the lap timer facility only ..?

Agreed and that's what you need.

You can always retrofit it "Porsche sports plus" gives you all the features but not the extra dial on the dashboard for about £1000, if a cra hasn't got it just factor that into the purchase price

In fact, the only Chrono option on a Gen 1 Turbo is a 'Sport Chrono Package Turbo'. It give 60Nm boost as well as the timers, personal memories etc. It's not possible to get 'std Chrono'.

On a Gen 2 it gives 50Nm and has the dynamic engine mounts included as well as launch control.

As mentioned on another post, you can retrofit it without the dashboard timer.

The difference between 'Sport Chrono package' and ''Sport Chrono package Plus' is whether the car has PCM fitted, and all Turbos do have PCM as standard.

Thanks 458 - that is food for thought.

I was looking at a turbo they have at Bristol Porsche which didn't have chrono sports, and the told me it could be retro fitted.

It's not crucial but does sharpen the throttle response, puts PASM into sport mode (stiffens up the dampers) and gives over boost which is fun biggrin

As soon as mine is warmed up, sport button is pressed....should be standard setting IMO

Yes, Sport Chrono is a must, either factory fit with timer or dealer fit without.

I always press the Sport button followed by the PASM button to put the dampers back to 'normal' at every startup.
