Which cans and is anyone selling theirs?
Discussion
I had half sleeved std cans then got some new 3/4 sleeved power tech cans, the car is decatted and IMO it was really quiet.
So today I pulled the cans off and tried it....l.oh yes it now sounds like a Tvr. Loud (but strangely not ridiculous at low revs) and lots of pops and bangs now.
So firstly what would I need? Just the power tech cans with no perf in them and if so has anyone got some to sell? Or I'll have to buy some new ones if not.

It sounded like a real tvr should lol I was impressed!
I though that even having a section of tube made up would do it but then I think the power tech cans can be made straight through with no wadding.
I'll keep the cans I've got now for when and if the novelty wears off.
God it was good

You mean like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB5I2Lf2kas ?
I can always try to ask what the end cans are...
They're half the length of the normal cans, and straight through BTW

That's the sound I want. Deep and loud but no raspiness. Could you find out what they are and where they are from? They look a little like the ones RG had for sale a while back.I can always try to ask what the end cans are...

Could well be the ones that were on my car (video is from two years ago, and they were on there for a very short time, as in a trip from UK to Belgium and a show appearance at the BNG...)IIRC the full exhaust came from a company in Germany, but I need to ask which one...
That's not far off what mine sounds like with no cans.
Strangely when driving normally it's not that much louder than before, maybe a little more bassy. Not ridiculous by any means.
When foot to the floor though it literally wails and is like thunder on the over run.
I think I'll get power tech to just make some straight through pipes with no wadding.
Can't believe I've owned for nearly two years and only just realised what I'm missing

OK, got more information on where and how...The "half length" exhaust cans on mine were basically the prototype version of an exhaust system developed to Chas Whitaker's specifications. They were fitted to my car in an "emergency" as I basically went to pick up the car for a cancer fundraiser in August 2010 and broke and lost the standard exhaust can during my last pessenger run, with Chas as a passenger. We were talking in the car, and I mentioned to him that something didn't sound quite right when the car became a lot louder... Upon arrival at RG's parking lot, we checked the car, and Chas went (for those who know him, in his typical Chas style): "no wonder it got noisy, the bloody exhaust's gone..." Chas mentioned that he had the exhaust cans for the full exhaust on my system, and they were fitted so I could set off...
The exhaust itself: the system is made in UK, as mentioned to Chas' specs. The cans itself are made in Germany, as I already mentioned in a previous post. What I didn't know yet, is that the same company also produces components for the AMG exhaust system, so a decent sound is definitely guaranteed...

If you want to hear them, here they are on my Tuscan and on a V8 engined Tuscan at Jasons' place. (for those interested, that's where you can get them now):

Hi Pascal,
Your End Cans are not just "straight through"..... They are Accoustic Tail Trims (ATTs) and were built to the same priciple as the ATTs on a Jensen Interceptor.
The exhausts for Jensen were produced by Servais Silencers in Cricklewood, London. They made me up a DIY exhaust system kit (ncluding a pair of Interceptor ATTs) for a TVR 2500M (straight six engine coincidentally) in the early 70's. Fabulous, mature sound - but unfortunately Servais no longer exist. The 2500M was sold in Germany so it may still be alive ? I have used the ATT principle in hundreds of exhausts - mostly for Jaguars - since 1986 !
ATTs were "straight through" - but they had accoustic wadding between the perforated straight through pipe and the outer casing. Takes the rasp out and gives a deeper tone when you get it right.
I'll get me coat !
WBR Chas

Weren't the "half length" thingies straight throughs? They had no perforation at all... The full length ones you sent me afterwards were the ATTs as you say...
The two years wasn't a typing mistake...
I had the car for about 3 weeks, after I picked it up beginning of August 2010, to run in the engine with some issues (supercharger belt slipping above 6k rpm, and some other things still to be done. Gearbox had issues with 3rd gear from the start, and it broke down after said 3 weeks, during demonstration laps at ZOlder on (the irony) the Belgian "AA" equivalent's "Autohappening". I returned the car the first weekend of September 2010...
It hasn't been out of the workshop since then... (well, at least not in running form)
