You have £3000 to buy three PH style cars to suit every purpose - what are they going to be?

I'll start the ball rolling with -

Impreza Turbo Wagon for practicality, performance and winter
MX5 for top down fun
Alfa 147 JTD for everyday use.

What would your choices be?

(I should perhaps point out I have put my money where my mouth is! wink )

R33 Skyline GTS-T (surprise!) for fun and general driving (should be able to get one for 2k)
Series 3 Landy (again... no surprise) for worst of winter/towing/collecting large objects/tip runs - 750)
Sacrificial Clio/Saxo/etc for driving to the station (250)

I think I could get the liner for less (mine was) so maybe add some to the Landy budget.......

Only difference to my current fleet is that I still have my '03 Accord which I have owned since '04 so owes me nothing. If I had to replace it I would go the 'station car' route now.

MX5 - £1000 Cos its the answer to every thing and there was a debadged one on OZ alloys in gordini/light blue outside my house today and I really fancied it. If you read this thumbup PM me a price!
Fiesta Mk4- 4 door - £500 My last car and for all it's crap, it did the job and can fit the kiddy in it and its funny chucking into bends at slightly higher speeds than you probably should.
Renault Sport Clio £1500 Fancied one for a while. No reason really.

I'l borrow some one else's mig welder laugh (and sell the scoob for parts money!)

Daily (probably in 1.8TS flavour for about £600):

Project (it would be a full resto for £1500):

Fun/track/weekend (with HGF for £300. Then I'd buy (another) snotter of an MG ZS and build a KV6-driven MGF):

I'd need something estate to take the dog/mountain bike/passengers/winter so a Volvo cross country for about £800, I'd keep the MGF (I don't fit in the early MX-5) it's worth about another £800.

The rest I would spend on a Honda Blackbird as it's essentially an older version of the VFR1200 I have now.

You have a point... it's a while since I bought mine - I rather assumed that tatty ones needing some TLC (read welding!) could be bought for that sort of money. Having said that, I think it should be possible to pick up an R33 for less than the £2000 I allowed - especially at this time of year. Maybe bargain hard and get the Skyline under for £1500, put the Series budget up to £1000.

Wanted to stay in budget but for another £500 you'd be fine - just remember the MiG welder! wink
