Just got halo 4 and now everytime I turn it on it crashes a few minutes later!

Think I've had it about 10 years but still cheesed off.

Considered getting a ps3 for blue ray but I only like halo!

10 years? Impressive, if you have contacts inside Microsoft to get it before the release in 05 why don'y you ask them to give you a newer one?

Exact same happened to me a few months ago. Would crash after 10 mins or so of being on. Eventually resulted in rrod.

I got a £1.99 repair kit off eBay and had it fixed in an hour. Simple fix actually.. The tricky bit was getting the case off!

Worked faultlessly since. Can't complain if it does fail again, only cost £1.99... Ms wanted £75 to fix it out of warranty. Defo worth a go. Loads of tutorials online.

Not a good situation frown my elite is dying a death and disc tray sticking. Had rrod 3 times on original frown not having any luck. So I went and got a new slim one today from morrisons. 150 quid for the 250gb version smile cheapest new ive seen so far! Both previous ones lasted 2/3 years each.

Same thing happened with the disc tray on my Arcade. Used to only open if there was a disc inside, one day I closed it by accident and that was it. However if anyone wants it for parts to repair a RROD model you can have it for beer money

If you're used to the Xbox way of things, don't go to the PS3. I've bought one just to play the games you can't get on Xbox and I hate the bloody thing. So badly designed in every way compared to the good old XBOX.

Also Bluray aint the be all and end all I was so eagerly informed by my mates.

Do you have a link for the kit you bought?

You certainly haven't. It came out in 2005. If it's a launch console then it's done well to last this long.

That's the one I bought in the end. Not £1.99 like I recall but still only £5.50. The only bits you need to fix the rrod are the washers and bolts which you can get for £1.99 on eBay. This one has various tools too. Worth the extra if you don't have them. You still need an adjustable wrench though to get the studs out of the heat sinks.
