Hello all.

I am after some information please.
I have been with a company for 4 months, and our holiday year begins Jan 1st. I will receive 22 days holiday for 2013.
If i leave in the first couple of weeks of Jan, what holiday pay can I get?
IE - will I be able to use holiday days as my notice?
Will I e able to use all 22 or just a pro-rata amount?

I probably haven't explained that too well, but l help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Stuart.

Rules regarding notice and using holidays for notice can vary and should be set out in your Ts & Cs of Employment but you won't get a whole year's holiday entitlement - expect either a pro-rata split or a set number of days per COMPLETE month of employment.

Hi.

That's helpful.
So I'm guessing i will just hand in one weeks notice and work it.

Thanks for the reply, Stuart.

Its the pro rata amount, so if you left end if jan you would be entitled to 1/12 of your 22 days =1.83 days

You will also (probably) have taken 1st of January as a holiday.

It might transpire you owe them (if they also pro rate "public" holidays)

As said, it all depends on how your COE is worded.

Likely outcome in practicality is, however, nil biggrin

Just because you've not signed it doesn't mean it's not in place. (how many double negatives? biggrin)
