Spurious reply to car ad on Autotrader
Discussion
A friend is trying to sell her 2009 Tigra on Autotrader, she's had a text today from buy-autotrader.com offering a couple of hundred less than the asking price. The website looks cheap but there is at least a contact number, so it might be legit.
Has anyone had any experience with this company?

The same thing had just happened to me. I had a text with a code, which upon logging on to the website and entering the code 'found' my car's details online in their system.
After a quick check on http://www.scamadviser.com the report has said the site is based in the Netherlands, but servers for the website are over in the 'States. Hmm... But, most significantly for me, the real 'owner' of the site is hidden through an IP proxy service.
And having a £60 'call out' fee doesn't sit well with me at all. I'll wait for another call, I think.
