She started life in 1989.
Supplied from Graham Weigh , with the beautiful Campag Croce D'Aune groupset and Modolo bars and stem .
Used as both my training and race bike at the time , with a pair of lightweight 28 spoke rims and wolber tubs for racing .
Having not used her for probably 10 years now , i have had the urge to get fitter and lose some weight , this was accelerated to the fore this holiday when a good friend / relative dropped dead with a heart attack. rip Fred.
So this morning I get permission to bring the bike in the house , tyres and tubes are totally perished , off they come , a bit of delving in the shed reveals a new and boxed pair of Michelin Supercomp HD 23's , good enough for Finion to ride and win a tour so , thats why I have a set
100 lb with the track pump , clean the wheels and the mavic rims and hubs look ready for action.
The old down changers and rear mech were swapped out some time ago for Ultegra sti shifters when we had a go at road racing .
Just a few squirts of WD40 , a clean out, some campag grease and they are shifting as smooth as ever.
Been on Wiggle and ordered some replacement overboots , these will get a baco foil lining and then we will be ready for business.
Hardest thing is going to be dealing with my mind , never a good climber , but now with an extra 4 stone it will be ..............
Lets see how it goes , may even rejoin a cycling club if I get the bug .
