While in traffic the other day I noticed, in the reflection of the headlights of the car behind, that my brake lights don't illuminate with light braking. They do illuminate with medium to heavy brake pedal pressure.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the switch above the pedal in the footwell. Can the switch be fixed/modified to register a light pedal movement?

yes, just move the switch contacts, or perhaps the switch mechanism has just got sticky....use silicone lubricant

Brake light switch should look similar to this

held into a bracket by two nuts. Should just be a case of loosen one nut and tighten the other to move the switch a little further away from brake pedal so that it switches sooner.

Too far and you'll have brake lights on constant!

Thanks phillpot, I've taken a look at the switch and it appears that there is just one nut holding it to the bracket. I'll see if I can find another nut or a washer so that I can adjust the switch position.
