Yikes, cost just floated up a little.....

Looks like I'll have to dig deeper into my pockets, just been told that stage 3 will have to be done with stage 1!!!!.
Coolant rad replacement
Oil Cooler system installation
New ported Oil pump....
Custom alloy piping....
Oh well, at least will lose some weight...
Boosted, what oil cooler do you normally recommend?
I'm thinking of going OTT with a nascar jobbie by Fluidyne...

Cerb's a classic beast now, so its the last of the old 3sum, griff, chim, cerb... and the 4.5 was the top dog after all....
I got one last day now and this time this is it....
My brother is trying to persuade me to get rid of her and put the money aside and pick-up a Diablo VT6...
but if people think the cerb aint practical - the diablo is definitely the king of unpractical...
But I reckon, I would get a lot more enjoyment out of the tiv if I completely alter her from stock... reliability will be way better - not to mention she'll have the title for the first FI cerbie...
I was looking into a Tuscan a while back, but the idea of a straight-6 just puts me off, call it a mental thing....
JSG - if you're gonna keep her, then go for the aspiration...!!
you'll then own the first turbo-charged tusc!

As well as being the fastest, I reckon Ash's Cerbera will be the most expensive on the road too . Are your insurance premiums going to rocket to those astronomical heights you once told me about?

Can't wait to see it when its all done. Must meet up again.
I'm sure this is just my skeptical nature, but am I the only person who thinks that isn't actually ever going to happen? I hope I'm wrong, as I'd love to see the result but so far I've heard 'here's my ideal spec', 'it's all going ahead', 'starting soon', 'it's expensive', 'really expensive', 'it's getting more expensive all the time' and 'an alternative would be to buy a lambo'.
Has the first phase actually started yet, or is it delayed because of the need to do some mods that were unexpected?
D
As a pessimist, im with you on this one DJ. Its looking a little unlikely from the off, its a very very big conversion plan you are running. Hope it goes all the way, but I can see it being aborted/ stoped mid-way due to complications/expenses.
All the best, SXS, hope it can be done.

Only thing you can ever be sure of on these kind of projects is the price you've been quoted is the lowest price it could possibly be. And it never ends up costing that price.
Speaking of Lambos... has anyone seen the Parallel Designs replica? Spent a loooooooong time walking round the ones they had at the performance/kit car show this last weekend, and they looked really, really special...

Nothing physical has started yet...
Like anything, its a BIG and very costly job... and I'm killing time to make sure its done right...
I'm sure you can appreciate - what happens if it all goes belly up???
So, I've been talking to loadsa firms and emailing a few real techies over the past few weeks...
Just making sure that everything is done the perfect way... because I really want to avoid breaking things... that'll make the costs astronomical...
Well, the job will start on saturday.... and if it doesnt - it wont be at all...
I am 90% sure its going ahead - the remaining 10% is pushing me towards not wasting my finances on this car, like a few have said 'are you sure this is the right base car you want to do this with'....
If we were just talking about a few K here and there... then no sweat... would be done already...
but we're potentially talking about a complete rebuild of all the mechanicals in this ride... and that is something that requires common sense and not just 'I want'...
Well unless anyone can give me a really good reason not to go ahead with this project by saturday, its going ahead...
About the lambo, I've always been a sucker for italian exotica - but the sheer width and impracticality and mega-poser label might not be something socially acceptable in my circle.....
probably if I was living in the states, that would be the ideal ride though....

Could do it to a DB7, but you'd need to retrim the interior from a TVR parts bin rather than a Ford one...
I think your bigger problem is driveability. Maybe I'm getting too old but the reason I tend to use the cerb now more than the Cobra in summer is the fact that the Cobra is a lot easier to drive.
The power/weight ratio in the cobra is probably better at normal driving speeds. Enormous power at low revs from a bored out 350 Chevy engine. In the wet the Cobra is dangerous compared to the cerb because almost all roundabouts are taken at low revs and if the engine coughs your rear wheels are instantly unhitched from the road. Take a roundabout at high revs in a low gear and you might as well kiss your ass goodbye. I find nowadays if it starts to rain and I'm caught out in the Cobra I start to sweat.
For this reason the cerb is a crackingly good compromise. If I upgraded I certainly would be careful not to mess about with the driveable end of the engine range.

Stop it... you're tempting me to look at slapping traction control and a pair of turbos on the Tuscan rather than having it resprayed!
