I believe the Boxster Spyder standard battery is a lightweight version. Do Bosch make an equivalent? If so, anyone have a part number or reference?

Mine to, which is why I asked because I always assumed these were a lighter weight spec than usual. Do you have a part number?

I think there was a lightweight battery option available to spec at £1295 smile

That's the lithium battery and is a fraction of the size.

I'm not talking about the Li option battery. I was always under the impression that the standard battery was lighter than the equivalent Boxster version?

That's exactly the same as the spec of the one I had in my 911 Turbo though. I know because I was looking at it 5 minutes ago. Looks the same as the Spyder one - 12V 80AH 380A.

Not heard of the standard battery being any different, definately not in any of the original porsche or press stuff. Only lighter option was the lithium one.

Fuel tank is smaller if that is what you were thinking of.

The Spyder, like my GT3 will in fact accept two sizes of battery. Both cars come with the physically smaller one ( not the lion one ) and by moving the plate that secures the battery to the car it is possible to fit a longer more powerful battery. I know this as when I got a new Porsche Battery for the GT3 the parts guy said there were two sizes listed for the GT3.
