Does anyone know what the fuel economy on the later S6's (with the 5.2 V10) is like?

I'm hoping it'll be something around 23 / 24mpg in real life combined. Also, are there any real nasties to be aware of with these (thinking about 06 / 07 cars with ~ 60k miles......)

If you have to ask, then you can't afford the running costs.

It will most likely average around 15 to 18mpg unless you're doing all motorway driving.

I don't think if you are buying one of these you worry about mpg that much but look for reviews online, most people will include it in a review

Haven't driven but I can't imagine you'll see more than 18 unless all you do in it is sit on the motorway at 65-70 all day.

My guess for a mix of city, commute, and weekend trips would be about 16.

Can't imagine it being that good my A6 2.7T Quattro only manages 24mpg

Just over 16 in traffic on my daily commute. 28 best on a long run but that was going off the figure the trip gave me.

Awesome car! Had it for 18 months and it was superb!

I can easily afford the running costs, thanks wink. I'd just rather it was closer to the fuel bills I've been used to whilst running an L322 v8, Merc CLK 500 and current S4 v8 (all average between 19 -23 over the time i had them) rather than my old Fairline with twin Mercruiser v8s that averaged 2 gpm at full chat

It's true though.

You hear of it all the time; people will buy a thirsty car and then be constantly worrying about mpg and then end up selling it a few months later because they couldn't stomach the fuel costs.

Not everybody is as pessimistic as you,Some people are just generally interested in what MPG a car will do before they buy it.

Which implies that he is indeed concerned about fuel economy rather than enquiring.

It's going to be bad, every performance car I've ever had has been bad on the fuel front, 20mpg is all you'll get so about 30p a mile.

confused do you know my fiscal situation?

Quite frankly, I currently have one car that averages 23 mpg, one car that averages 26mpg and one car that averages 8mpg. The last semi economical car I had was back in about 2005 when I had a Box S.

Personally, I would rather that a car isn't ridiculously uneconomical, as I have better things than fuel that I would rather spend my money on, but if it does drink a bit, and it is a car I want, I'll ignore the economy aspect. You're welcome to a copy of my P60 for verification if you wish biggrin

Out of interest how many miles will you plan on doing? I'm looking for a new car and I keep on thinking of a lusty barge but my mileage of 25-30k corrupts my man math calculator.
