My Daughters Evoque is just about a yr old and the dealer says a 1st service is £450

Remember this is a piddly 2.2 Diesel

This cannot be right surely. I've had big trumpy engined cars cost less at 2yr services.

Anyone confirm or otherwise??

Personaly I blame the people that sell the dealerships for a fortune and leave the buyers with such mountains of debt that they have to fleace poor customers.

I paid £320 at Williams Manchester for the first service in Oct and this appears to be the norm. There is a thread on babyrr.co.uk listing what people have paid at specific dealers.

with some dealer labour rates up at £140-150 an hour inc vat, it dosent take much of a service to end up with a £500 bill frown

They seem to have less dealers than they did. I had my FL2 done at Nottingham using their site. Now it's telling me the closest dealer is in Bristol which considering I live near Birmingham...

if you cant afford to buy something then don't buy it. if you are so stupid to have overpaid for something you shouldn't be trusted with money in the first place.

Stupid price. Every year service is annoying as well.

Yep, my Dad found this with his! The local dealer (where he bought it from) wanted £485 for the first service. eek When he told me he'd booked it in for January, I phoned up a few others and the cheapest came in at a couple of quid over £300. Whilst still rather expensive for something that uses a Focus ST engine, it's rather more palatable than £485! For those who are interested, the cheapest price was from Taylors of Dunmow in Essex (where my Dad's car is now booked in!).

Why do several of the posts seem to think that the engine is the determining factor in servicing costs? The majority of cost on a service is paying for a technician to carry out all the checks and measurements, and these will largely be independent of engine. So a baby 4 pot diesel and a wacking great V8 of the same model will likely have incredibly similar servicing costs.

I don't use them, just get my local to price match!
