Does anyone have or know of a cheapish size medium Triathlon/TT bike for sale?

depends what you want but try www.timetriallingforum.co.uk as a good starting point. There are loads on ebay too as triathletes are notorius for wanting the newest shiniest things!

Cheers Pablo, I've checked Ebay but there isn't anything that I would consider as cheap. Most are still over a grand!!

if you are on a budget, get a regular road bike then, turn the seat post round 180 degrees to pitch you a bit further forwards, fit tri bars and away you go.... i rode a few duathlons with that set up and could manage an average of 20mph quite easily.

Duathlons are what I'm planning on doing in 2013, (useless at swimming) so that may be worth a try. Thanks for the advice!!!

As he said, a TT bike really only comes into its own when you're quite capable on a bike I think. Having said all that, some brands do make cheap TT framesets http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/f... and you can kit it out fairly well for £1000 I would think.

It's in perfect condition and i'm selling because i'm switching to a more standard road bike as i'm done with triathlon!

I've got a Stealth Pro Carbon and it's a cracking bike for the money, well worth it.The main differences between the Stealth and the Rival look to be group set and wheels. In time, you could add the carbon aero wheels for about £500 and have a real weapon.

However, should you decide not to spend out, as mentioned above, a good set of TT bars and a more aggressive position makes a big difference to any road bike; I did exactly that for a season before splashing out on the Stealth and felt the difference when running off the bike.

Too true. My mate who worked in the LBS said they absolutely rubbed their hands with glee whenever a Triathlete walked in looking for a bike, it was always going to be a 2-3 grand sale.

i take it you have a road bike? I bought a BMC TT02 TT bike sans wheels from the time trialing forum for sub £700 (mix of duraace/ultegra/no name/FSA) and just swap wheels between the two.

In that case i would definately go for a road bike and tri bars. You cant train easily on a tt bike and they are very much single purpose. Riding one on a road with other traffic is pretty daunting. The Planet X pro carbon is worth a look for £1k, you wont lose too much in terms of outright speed compared to a full on tt bike but you will make up loads of time if there is a hill on your route as climbing on a tt bike is hellish.
