1000-1400 Mx5 mk1 vs mk2 which is better?
Discussion
Hi, pro ably been done a few times however I need advice before buying one.
Car will be a second car, mostly used by the gf to get to and from work 8 miles town driving only. I would also like do a bit of diy turbo-supercharging taking it to track days, nothing Illove more than going sideways
Which one is the better proposition? I really like the pop up lights

With FI anything is possible. The thing to bear in mind though is that you get what you pay for. I like this adage:
- Cheap
- Powerful
- Reliable
You can choose only 2
Bear in mind that you will need:
The SC kit
Something to control fuelling (AFPR, Powercard, eManage, standalone ecu)
Something to control timing (Powercard, eManage, standalone ecu) - or retarded timing
MAP Sensor
And then there is the tuning. The fuel tuning isn't too difficult but I'd always give it to someone who knows what they are doing to get the timing right.
Also, you would probably want to give it a good servicing before putting FI on it unless you know it has recently been done.
And I'd get the suspension sorted before adding FI...

My car is supercharged: MP62 + TDR IC + Adaptronic + 550cc RC injectors = 243bhp + reliable = a lot of money!
I haven't read any of the Nutz guides (there are a lot of them - which one are you referring to?) but they are mostly written by very knowledgeable guys and usually with a lot of comments/corrections by other knowledgeable guys so should be good information.

I currently have a supercharged mk2, and previously a (mostly) standard mk1
As has already been said above, the mk2 is a nicer place to be and a better drive day to day. the extra chassis stiffness is noticeable and i couldn't go back now. for everyone who says the mk1 is better to drive and more "raw" thats horses for courses.
from a super/turbocharging perspective - a mk2 would cost more - you wouldnt be able to go down the "cheap as chips" route as easily. mainly because the mk2 ecu is more advanced so needs a fully-featured standalone ecu to replace, and its a royal PITA to retard the timing compared to the mk1..
Generally theres also much more in the way of second hand performance parts available for the mk1.

My Mk2.5 had an eManage blue for a few years and a JR Powercard before that. You don't get a lot cheaper than that!
AFPR
- Mine had one before Adaptronic, along with a little bracket that relocated the crank sensor to the other side of the pulley to give it a bit of timing adjustment.wheedler said:

AS has been said the Mk 2 is the more modern and comfortable car however i think most will agree the Mk 1 is the far better looking car.Car will be a second car, mostly used by the gf to get to and from work 8 miles town driving only. I used to think that but I've grown to love the looks of the Mk2.5 and now the Mk1 looks a bit too dated to me. Mk2 I'm not so keen on, the headlights & front bumper are a bit too rounded, the slight modifications on the Mk2.5 added a touch of aggression while still looking "friendly".Thanks for all the advice.
Im now the proud owner of 2 owner 170,000 kms'93 1.6 Eunos which I got for £400
, found out it has an LSD which is quite good.
Heres some pictures I took when doing the pads and discs, I actually thought it will be really rusty but it seems ok, unless you guys can see something else.
