well, its been a long time coming but i feel its time to go larger for the sake of comfort and luggage space for the Baby.

I am currently driving an EP3 Type R and really love it so i am reluctant to part but i want to upgrade the space and possibly get more MPG and go Diesel while i'm at it.

front runners are only the A4 Avant and the 3 Series Tourer as i think i'f i'm going bigger i'm going BIGGER and will skip the Saloon area altogether as i've always liked the Estates in any car better.

can any body shed some light on possible alternatives? Octavia VRS not included please.

thanks

Baby?

How about a Merc GL? Or one of the new LWB Range Rovers?

I will keep my stock reply - Passat TDi estate. Get a 170 sport which will have enough poke for overtakes, and enough room in the back seats for a baby seat and room in the boot for the DIY shop runs/buggy etc.

And if you want poke get a T5, not amazing MPG but good for a decent powered car of that size.

This. Mine will fit three child seats in the back at a squeeze but they're in. And the boot never seems full.

Probably too small

i think a LWB sprinter might be big enough for a baby

The 3 touring or A4 estate do not have much room after pram and baby stuff are in the boot.

Really need to be looking at the next size up again - also its possible a second nipper might come along at some point at which time a 5 series touring or equivalent would be needed

Don't get the diesel Legacy/outback diesel up to 2010. (The good looking one). The diesel engine in those are useless. Smokes like a diesel from the 1990’s and economy is poor compared to most modern 2.0 diesels. I had one from 2010 to May this year and did over 50,000 miles in it.

The new shape (the ugly one) is a much better car to drive and the engine seems much better sorted (it as a different DPF system, closed vs open). The only problem with it is its looks, which are rather hideous.

Good luck.

As far as "Baby gear lugging" space goes the A4 and 3-series are tiny in the back and boot.

I'd be looking at the following estates: A6, 5-series, E-Class and V70.
Happy hunting.

How about a nice RS6 Avant? cool

Agreed. If you really want to not have to worry about lugging baby stuff around then a 3 series or A4 isn't big enough IMO.

get both?!..the Subaru Legacy. I have heard nothing but good things about them. It was TopGear car of the year a few years ago. I believe they stated it was all the car you will ever need. I think JC said a similar thing about the Range Rover TDV8. Although I am not always aligned with the views of those 3 old gits, however, I agree with the opinion on both these vehicles!
