Now this might sound odd, but I am still running win95!!!

Some of you know I have had some computer problems recently and it seems that something has happend to damage my i.e. 5.5 for win 95 and the 128 bit encryption has been stripped away so I cannot access secure sites. I managed to carry out some sort of fix so I could access this site, but as far as other protected sites is concerned - it's no go.

Yes - I should upgrade, but I refuse to be forced to update on the principle that petrol still works in my old Bedford Camper Van, so why should I be forced to scrap it and buy a new one just because the present petrol has been specially formulated not to work in it!

Interestingly you can get all sorts of 128 bit encryption packs from the Microsoft site for other versions of i.e. written for all sorts of win OS - but NOT for win 95!. It seems that i.e 5.5 has the 128 bit encryption included - but nonetheles mine has gone.

I have researched the Microsoft site extensively and there is no remedy available from them at all.

Now I know some of you on here are soooper whizzo chaps at computers so...........

can anyone send me -

a 128 encription pack for i.e. 5.5 for win 95

or even better -
a clean version of i.e. 5.5 SP2 for win 95

and even a nice clean version of win95 (with password) 'cos I'm sure mine has been buggered

please ??????

It would be really great if any of you can help.

cheers!

JJ your luck is in (maybe)! I have a brand new, never used and not registered Win 2000 Proffesional. Its not a copy. It was supplied with some equipment for work but not needed so it ended up in my drawer I don't need it as I run XP Pro.
Mail me your address and I'll pop it in the post to you. Price is a couple of beers at BBWF 2005
Only snag is Sam has put the code and the certificate (sticker/hologram thingy) somewhere safe!! Will interogate her when she gets home

FF: I'll add a computer capable of running w2k to Dickymints kind offer, just cover the postage for me.

:FX: whispers to DickyMint. Send me the W2k Disk And license key and I'll install it for FF.
