Hi everyone and happy new year to all of you!

Lately I have been wondering how many Chimaera 500 are left...

If I am right, TVR built between 7,000 and 8,000 Chimaeras altogether and 600 of those where 500.

I have just checked "how many left" and it looks like a lot more data has been added (the last time I checked you could just find out how many were licensed and SORN) now you can even get a breakdown by engine size...

It might be of interest to you guys:
http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/tvr_chimaera#...

So it looks like there are nearly 2950 Chimaeras registered out of which 350 are 500...

I looked at the 500 as it is the one I own and though it was the rarest, but actually the rarest is the 430...

Happy New Year and safe driving!

Frenchie.

Happy new year, yes that was my conclusion re 430s, still trying to find the oldest registered 430.

Are there really some diesel-powered Chimaeras out there, or are those errors in the data?

That is assuming that this data is accurate and hasn't been inputted or recorded incorrectly.

Also, have no 500's been written off? I'm sure I've seen a few on TVR Dean.

I have just picked up a 500 engine out of a chimaera ....this will be going in my road going challenge car....along with the T5 box...

Went in the car before the engine was removed so can confirm it was decent....it is being swapped for an LS...

Chimaera 500, 1998, Zenith Blue, 64.000 kms yet, well-maintained (no rust!), probably one of the best Chimaera's in NL.

How do you know they are 500`s when they could be a 4l model with an larger cc engine change .!

Why assume the engine was even changed?

And conversely, why assume that registered new as a 500, it still is a 500?
More importantly perhaps; an original TVR 5L.

Provenance is everything.

Thats not many cars of any engine size on the road if you consider 7000+ originally made. I think there were less than 100 x 430's ever made so they always have attracted a premium. Suprised how few 450's are out there.
At least this goes some way to explaining why I never see another tiv when I'm out and about. confused
