Has anyone used this campsite in previous years?

Is that the one in the carpark between the exhibition centre and the motorway, the other side of the bridge to the entrance by the stage?
If so I suppose it would be ok as a place to park a campervan / motorhome, but would have nothing whatsoever to offer as a campsite.

We are going there as well for the first time - some people said the ground was hard and difficult to put pegs into so we bought two boxes these...

I heard that the ground was not ground, but tarmac!

Hire one of those big Nail Guns that will punch through steel and concrete, you will have no trouble then putting pegs in the ground

Got a response from ACO within 30 minutes of the office opening after the New Year. I was assured that it is ok to camp in a tent on the site

Hello,

We pitched our tent there last year. The ground is very hard. You'll need an air bed and a lump hammer. Its just behind the funfair and only about a (brisk) five minute walk to the track. Neighbours were friendly. We did seem to be the only english speakers there. Must add, we only really used the tent during the day, as we also had an apartment in Town, next to the train station. It did seem to be fairly quiet with an older crowd.

We use the same heavy rock pegs that Great Dane has suggested, but we're going to give the screw in types a go this year as well, for guy ropes. If the ground is damp (I appreciate not a prob where you're camping) the heavy duty ones come out easily.

The ones recommended work very well , alternative you can drill a hole first before banging the peg into the hole.
