Switch gear (headlights, hazards etc.) are completely different in that the Mk 2 / facelift have little control ECUs connected to the switches via ribbon cables as opposed to standard switches on the Mk 1.

Hmmm ... the heater fan speed control is different IIRC, the headlight switching is completely different (i.e. the headlight switches on the Mk1 are replaced by a control box on the MK2) and the gauges are all different diameters and require different senders too...

Big-ass job!

Not sure different gauge size is specifically related to Mk1 vs Mk2, I think the gauges changed size / colour / manufacturer much more frequently than that.

But thats a tidy interior ,if it took me a couple of weekends to swop it, would not be a big deal ..How does the bottom dash bit come off ?I like the later switches on the doors ..
