I'm fed up of paying the frankly silly annual amount for Porsche VTS and am thinking of having a tracker fitted and paying an up-front forever fee (if I continue to own it). As an existing tracker customer I will also get a deal. I don't intend to have the VTS removed, just not subscribed.

Can't imagine how this would impact warranty - even if they found it - or am I being naive?

Has anyone done this in warranty and been fine? Any other advice gratefully received.

In theory, as with everything non-OEM, it will void the warranty.

Will they ever find out? No idea, probably not. Is it worth the risk for a couple of hundred quid a year? Up to you.

You could just find another insurer that will take you on without a tracker, if the only reason you have it is for that purpose.

There's plenty out there that do not need a tracker, reduction with or without is normally insulting to!

You probably know this, but Cobra manage the Porsche VTS system for you, but also offer their own trackers in different flavours.

Since I didn't have the VTS on a previous Boxster I had one of Cobra's own trackers fitted and with the lifetime contract it proved much more cost effective. I'm now with the standard VTS on the next car and shelling out over £200 a year for something that really doesn't do any more.

For this amount of money, if you have a warranty I wouldn't risk it, but certainly consider the alternatives.
