All,

Thanks to my parents, it turns out I have food intolerances - gluten, yeast, egg white and dairy. The former means I blow up like a balloon and the latter means I can't process the fats. Add them together, and it's not nice for man or beast. These all together mean that my carbs are basically from corn and rice, then it's normal veg and meat for the rest of it.

The main problem I have is breakfast - I don't like fruit, and I'm really struggling with something that I like and can eat every day.

Apart from 'manning up' and eating stuff I don't like, does anyone have any suggestions for breakfast?

Cheers.

Why are you not getting carbs from potatoes?

True! smile Still need breakfast ideas though - everything I see about this on the web is 'shake this and that'. Is that the only way apart from G/F cereal bars, or cooking something specially?

There is no law saying what you must eat for breakfast; have cottage pie and sprouts if you like.
Or just don't have breakfast - if you drive a desk you won't die of starvation by not eating until lunch time.

No, but I will be hungry enough to have gluten etc unless it is planned.

I have the same issue with our son, there are quite a lot of cereals that are fine, such as rice crispies, cornflakes, crunchy nut cornflakes even coco-pops! Then substitute milk for either soya milk, or apple juice.

The other option is there are now quite a few gluten free breads available thus the most important food group is available to you... 'Toast'.

All the breads have egg in them (except 'genius', but very difficult to get). The Mesa Sunrise cereal was good, it's the trying it with something other than milk that was causing problems. I guess I'll keep trying the different milk substitutes, I had given up on them.

Hash browns - shop brought contain gluten.
Bacon... HELL YES.
Sausages - 99.9% contain gluten. Only very few don't.
Beans - sauce contains thickening agent including.... gluten!
Egg yolks - fine.

But will I honestly cook myself a breakfast every day? Not a chance, and the butler refuses to do so! wink

I meant to make your own hash browns, shop bought are awful and the Heinz wedsite suggest that their beans are gluten free.

Check the beans again, my nephew is coeliac and can eat heinz beanz just fine.
And the GF sausages we have when he's round are far nicer than a lot of non-GF ones. Can check where they're from if you're interested, I don't think we had to hunt very hard for them.

Musks make a range of VERY good gluten free sausages.

We found cereals with apple juice was better than substitute milks namely almond, rice, soya

Genis bread is now available in waitrose and big tescos

Not at all, because you asked for breakfast foods that you could eat, and when given them you gave an objection that was not given in previous posts.

Eat fruit, there you go, eat fruit for breakfast.
