Name this car from Goowood FoS 2012
Discussion
I took this photo at Goodwood FoS 2012, and have it as a desktop wallpaper at work. My colleague is an ex motorsport journalist and is getting annoyed because we can't work out what the car is or who is driving it. Not the best photo I know, but can you shed any light on it?

Edit: can't see the uploaded image here, can anyone fix it? First time using the PH photo uploader, the URL is:

Parnell MG driven by Richard Last if the entry list is accurate.
We have a winner! We've only been debating it for two weeks now... I couldn't find a Goodwood entry list online, just a list of what 'celebrities' were driving cars. You've earned the respect of a jaded motoring hack (my colleague), thanks!

The car was originally a K3 Magnette (as driven by Nuvolari to win the Ards TT) converted by Hugh Hamilton to single-seater spec.. Reg Parnell bought it in 1935 and raced it in British national events.
In 1936/37 he converted it to twin-cam spec, with a central seat, and was driving it at Brooklands when he had a collision with Kay Petre which resulted in him losing his licence for a while. In 1939 the car was sold to Ian Nickols.
A photo in his biography shows it in unpainted bare metal, no colour. I've no idea why it is that colour blue, but there was no regulation about national colours unless a GP was being entered.
