Just bought a new 996. Found a tracker that I didn't know it had, no paperwork. It has part 5trk0200uk. Any idea who fits these?

That seems to be a Motorola tracker - there's one currently for sale on ebay with similar part number.....

Don't waste your money, the VHF antenna has been cut off and there not transferable from vehicle to vehicle.

Wasn't suggesting a purchase, merely using it as a point of reference to answer OPs original question as no one had yet to identify his tracker which was found by a bit of googling...job done ;-)

Would never buy 'security' based gear second hand or from eBay...ever !

Cheers for the info guys. Great spot on eBay. Excellent info from Barry.
For others with the same, it's an old Tracker device. Tracker had no knowledge of it must have been fitted a while ago and not activated by previous owner.

Just to take this thread further if i could.
Im due to pick my cayman s up in the next few week which has "VTS Preparation".

Now as i understand things, this was just an option to include the wiring element within the car from factory? Does this then mean, all I now have to do is approach Cobra, for example, and just purchase the actual tracking unit, at a reduced cost of a full installation?

Reason i ask is that i am currently looking at the various car insurance options based on having a tracker or not.
I could potentially save £250 with one provider who requires a tracker, over one which does not.
I need to weigh up the initial outlay and potential future cost savings.

Cheers

The Cobra subscription is £215 per year though - factor in the installation and I doubt that this is going to be cost effective unless the policy requiring it offers you something that the other doesn't. Once your car has depreciated a bit (a year or two from new on a Cayman) its value will fall through the threshold at which insurers require a tracker too (usually £40k or £50k value).

I'd say that it makes little financial sense personally.
