I know it is quibbling, but after having had my beautifull 111R in old English white with H/T for 5 days I am frustrated by the Stereo.

What is the point of fitting a DAB stereo if you can't get any signal. It is not as if I am in the back of beyond - I commute between Derby and Notts. Any suggestions anyone !

It looks awesome (to me anyway) Got it retrimmed inside with Magnolia and black leather. Had a Seal Grey Boxster so wanted a change of colour.

It will certainly be unique, never ever seen a plain white Elise of any description, just hope you continue to enjoy it, otherwise it could be financially painful

I did once see a white series 1 Elise in Manchester - I have to say I personally didn't like the car in that colour, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as you are happy, u415270, I wouldn't worry - until it comes to resale time Nevertheless, I hope you are enjoying your new toy - how is the running in going? I've had my 111r for about a week and I'm going insane not being able to let rip with full revs

Have you checked the DAB coverage area on their website? You can do that here:

www.ukdigitalradio.com/coverage/search/default.asp

Alternatively, IIRC, there is a special aerial for DAB somewhere on the car, I think in the nose - perhaps its connector has become detatched? I'm sure your dealer could check. Other than that, I'm not sure what else it could be. What exactly is happening when you try to tune into an ensemble?

Just uploaded apiccie so you can judge the colour. I do hope to keep the car long enough for depreciation to even out a bit.

I do get some reception on the DAB tubner, with the BBC ensemble coming and going.

Like you I am keeping the needle (mostly) below 4.5K, without giving it full throttle. Another curious thing is when parking it is prone to dieing on me. Approaching lights or traffic is not a problem as the ECU seems to keep idle at around 1000 rpm above a certain road speed, but when manoeuvering for parking (i.e. very low speed) it dies on me. I have to keep blipping the throttle.

Anyone else suffered ?

Hmmm. So you are getting a signal, but it's not locking in. Perhaps it's just a bad reception area after all? Are you in a built-up or hilly area which might block the signal?

My car does have a slow tickover during low-speed manoevering, but it doesn't stall in the way you describe. The revs dip, then pick up - that's probably the best way of describing it. Does this happen to you all the time or just when cold/warm? Have you asked your dealer about resetting the ECU or running a quick diagnostic? Alternatively (and the simplest explanations are often the best ) are you giving it enough gas when letting the clutch out gently? That caught me out a couple of times

The main problem with my car is a metallic sound of something somewhere being slightly loose and vibrating. It sounds like it's coming from the passenger-side front corner, but could realistically be from anywhere by the time the sound has bounced around the cockpit. It's most audible when cruising on balanced throttle at 70 in 6th. If I gas it or back right off, the sound disappears. Weird. The dealer is going to track it down at the 1000 mile service, but it sounds for all the world like some fastner somewhere on the car just needs a 1/4 turn

As for running in, I don't think I've actually exceeded 4000rpm yet, save on one or two occasions! I do give it a bit of welly now and again, but certainly nothing more than 1/2 throttle. I hope I'm not being too sympathetic with it .

Hi there,

I've got to honest I hated the idea of a White Elise but I really liked the look of yours in the picture, a friend on mine has a white TVR with black wheel's and it look's awesome, I like [K] have gone for the Ardent Red model but as has already been said it's personal taste. I'm still waiting for mine and I'm getting very anxious

K - the problem arises when the clutch is fully depressed (g/box disengaged) - it sounds similar to the issue you describe where the revs dip, but in my case it doesn't recover.

Will mention it at the 1000 mile service. I am at 500 miles now so not long - although it has just started raining so carefull does it for a bit longer....

It does look better than I imagined, the Elise shape carries it off very well.

Problem is people do have such a downer on white cars (and have done for about the last 10 years with no sign of improvement) its going to be a killer come resale time

get that black windscreen surround sprayed in white to match the rest of the car, other than that it looks superb.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the colour. Think I will book the 1000 mile service at Nick Whale - seems to get the general thumbs up as a Midlands dealer who know what they are doing.

I think that cream / white is making a bit of a comeback - look at the new Mini and Beetle, both now offered in this colour. Might just have to hold on to the car for the next 10 years and wait for it to become popular again......

Definitely worth looking here aswell mate.

www.horizonmotorsport.co.uk/html/service.html

Just had my 1st A service and can't fault the quality of work and service they give. Also quite a bit cheaper then Nick Whale.

Have you joined www.Mloc.net yet?!

Cheers James...
