I'm a final year Mech Eng MEng student (Sheffield Uni) and I'd love to work in Motorsports engine design.

BUT... trying to get a response to CVs sent in post or to emails is very difficult so if anyone works for anybody like Mountune, RPE or NBE etc could you get in touch?

FWIW I do have relevant experience with both Ford and Mectech Motorsport. Oh and my dissertation is race engine design (don't get me started I'll talk your ear off). I'm also aware that really I should be putting in my time on road cars to learn the craft which is my back up, but I'd hardly be a PHer if I didn't try to jump straight to the loud ones.

Also if anyone has advice, wouldn't mind checking my CV, fancies meeting up at Autosport international (where I'll be doing a CV drop on Thursday), can offer me some work experience etc. then I'm all ears.

Good luck to all in 2013 and if you share a paddock with the Radical SR3 challenge I'll see you there (supporting not driving).

Might be worth sending e-mails to

pumaracing http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?mem...

puma doesn't suffer fools but he does build race engines. (Or he certainly used to).

Edit to remove someone who I think is not the person I'm thinking of.

i turned down an engine design job at JLR 6 months ago. they still require loads of power train designers though. Like you i have a motorsport degree and was desperate to work in motorsport, but the money at JLR's good so it pays for me to go racing as a hobby instead.

if you're interested drop me a pm and i'll give you details of who to get in touch with.

Thanks,

Can't PM Puma so I've posted extremely O/T on one of his threads.

As for JLR, I applied to their grad scheme in October and they rejected me straight off (I now know what was wrong with my application but you're only allowed to apply once a year). If on the other hand you know of someone that can get me an engine job outside of the grad scheme then I am most definitely all ears. Like you say the work is extremely interesting there and they pay one of the best too!
