I found the first series pretty disappointing. Started ok then just felt like poundshop X Files.
But then in series two it totally jettisoned the arc of the first series and really got into its stride. Two to four are fantastic.
I'm now halfway through series five (which is the final series) and it has changed again, becoming something that feels a bit too different to what I liked before for me to feel fully engaged with it. Still good, but not as good.
So, stick with it I reckon.

Pretty much as the above posters said - I got into it for the humour at the start, and the X-files element seemed enjoyable enough. As the 'real' story started building up more it really took off. Fifth season is a bit poorer than the earlier ones, but good enough to finish watching. Currently waiting for the final 3 episodes (over the next couple of weeks).
I like the psuedo-sciency stuff, and the way that physics works in their universe.

I've just started watching this as one of the TV channels (Pick?) have been showing an episode a night. I looked for a thread hoping to see whether it's worth carrying on with it, as we're on about episode 72 at the moment and it's filling my hard disk. Possibly, seems to be the consensus. Maybe I'll delete the first season, though I usually regret missing the start of stuff.
