Happy new year Chaps!

Unfortunately its that time of year again for me. wink haha.

Bloody insurance renewal! Whats everyone finding the best option to be at present?

Is anyone else still with Competition? I would be EXTREMELY grateful to talk with anyone that is.

Big love,

Dan

Hey Tux =)

How's the green beast running?

With regard to the insurance, I'd love to know what they quoted you basically. Perhaps you could PM me, but no worries if you'd rather not disclose the information.

There has been a spike in my renewal quote as a result of them having to charge for commuting usage, which is ok for me because I don't use mine for that, but I'm still keen to get some perspective on where everyone else is with their rates as obviously shopping around with cars like these is really time consuming.

Hope all is well!

D

Dan,

I switched to CCI from another well known broker and pretty much halved my premium. Happy to chat if you want.

I switched from REIS to Manning UK as they offered unlimited track days cover with a lower premium than REIS charged in previous year

Hey Tux!

Glad to hear it =)

I'm currently with Competition and mine is same miles, lower valuation figure, no track days, mods declared, garaged, gated mews etc and they're wanting double that. I suspect the rationale is the postcode (London)... I wonder... I certainly dont feel that double is fair based on that reasoning.

Anyone else with compeition in London?

Dan I think it's an age thing, twice the age half the price.

I got quotes from both mannings and cci for rockingham track day, not a lot in it £480 mannings, £580 cci the year, mannings unlimited track days, 6 with cci, excess higher with mannings, 10% of value of car, it was just hassle with cci as they won't give discount fir being a nobleparts member as its not a paid membership, they seem to be upping there premiums

Dan,

I'm in Bromley, so a Greater London postcode. £39k value, 2000 miles, 5+ years protected, no points, nearly 60, standard M400 power, securely garaged, tracker, track days but no commuting - cost around £700. Postcode is a killer and occupation can make a huge difference too. My previous renewal quote was virtually double!

It's also worth bearing in mind who is under-writing. I'd rather have Aviva on the other end than some of the alternatives.

Ah yeah, I'm also a SIDC member, £20 for the year, reduces insurance with CCI but I'm not sure how much by and gets £20 off every Knockhill trackday with SIDC I do.

I’ve (nearly) sold my Renault 5T2, the buyer asked who would be best to insure it with, (Its heavily modified) i suggested CCI who its insured with now and classicline, in the past i found both of these close with there quotes, He got back to me and (shock) they wouldn’t offer insurance as they have changed there policy on insuring non competition cars??? First i have heard of it but that’s what i was told.

Just to point out, I just spoke to a very nice chap at Mannings.

Unfortunately he nearly fell off his chair when I mentioned 600bhp.....

He went away to double check but came back and confirmed that they wouldn't be able to quote.

Glad we got to that point straight away rather after a raft of questions & forms smile

CCI looking good so far at about £570 but only seem to be 5 track days?

Graham

Thanks Graham, but what "Noble Club Discount"?

If you mean treating Noble Parts as a Club, the guy I originally spoke to says club discounts are available (seem to knock about 9% off the premium) but the club has to have a paid membership....maybe your bloke got around that?

Also, following a chat with Tux (thanks Matey!) I rang Mannings back and spoke to a different guy there and the 612bhp turns out to be absolutely fine. You do need current NCD's though, and they lapse after 2 years, so coming from a long standing Classic Policy can be difficult.

CCI are happy with a letter from the old Classic Policy provider as evidence of no claims having being made and will then mirror the NCD's, but Mannings were not. They can do a Classic type policy that still works out fairly well.

CCI include 5 trackdays whereas it's unlimited with Mannings but the trackday excess is much higher.

Decisions, decisions!
