Staying at Cameron House next week at the side of Loch Lomond for 3 nights. What would you recommend doing close to the hotel during the days? Any places to eat except the hotel?

Thanks.

We stayed there early last year. Very very nice. Iirc, there are two restaurants. One in the hotel itself (Cameron Grill) which is very decent. Typically you need to book a table in advance as it gets busy. The other is 2 mins walk down at the Boat Club. Also very good.

As for the surrounding area, not sure tbh. We used it as a base for exploring a bit further afield so can't recommend anything in the locality.

There's another restaurant in the hotel itself from Martin Wishart which is Michelin starred. I found it a little stuffy but mainly due to it being pretty quiet when we were there. The food and service was as you'd expect.

If you have a car and you've never been up through Glencoe then I'd highly recommend that while you're in the area. Make a day trip of it to Fort William for lunch, maybe.

You could drive round to Balmaha and have lunch at the Oak Tree Inn.

There's a sea life center down the road in Balloch if that's of any interest with some shopping and restaurants on hand at Loch Lomond Shores.

Someone might be able to comment on what Duck Bay is like for food these days? I haven't been in years.

I get married at Cameron House in a little under 4 months now.

stting it!

Enjoy!

The Cruin

Mr C's - it's in a hotel, name escapes me, want to say "Balahenny" or something along those lines.

Also The Trossach Trail for a drive.

Many more, those were just the ones that I can remember

Duck Bay Marina is really nice for food with a nice setting. Also heading north is a great drive with some nice restaurants mentioned above.

Ah that brings back memories.

Family used to have a week timeshare there and I spent a lot of Hogmanays there - loved it.

IIRC there's loads of stuff you can do on site, I remember doing archery and also razzing around a muddy field somewhere down by the boathouse on a quad bike.

If you're in one of the lodges up the hill then you're screwed if you take an M3 up there and it snows heavily - you'll probably have to leave it there biggrin

Take some pics please, not been for years!
